St Nicholas' procession Aarle-Rixtel

until 6 December

It seems only so recently that Sinterklaas and his Pieten have arrived in all the villages of Laarbeek. They were all wonderful entries, with glorious weather and lots of happy children. Everyone is still in the Sinterklaas mood and fortunately the children can still put their shoes on for a while. It seems only so recently that Sinterklaas and his Pieten have arrived in all the villages of Laarbeek. They were all wonderful entries, with glorious weather and lots of happy children. Everyone is still in the Sinterklaas mood and fortunately the children can still put their shoes on for a while. However, the organisation of the St Nicholas parade in Aarle-Rixtel is already looking forward to the birthday of Saint Nicholas on 6 December.

By then, Pakjesavond will have passed and it will be time for St Nicholas and his helpers to return to Spain. But not before all the children have had the chance to wave them off one last time. On Tuesday 6 December at 6.30pm, Sint and Pieten will make their appearance at the Kiosk on the Kouwenberg after which they will go in procession with horse and cart and disco cart to the Aarle marina. Everyone is welcome to come along and it would be extra festive if everyone brings a pretty lantern or cheerful lights. Arriving at the marina, Sinterklaas and his Pieten board the steamboat and leave for the arduous journey through the canal and across the sea, all the way to Spain. That's a bit sad, of course, but they'll definitely be back next year. An extra reason to make it a wonderful party together one more time on 6 December!
