Tonny came into contact with music at an early age. He joined the local brass band Excelsior, first playing the flugelhorn but switching to the small drum in the drum band. Not much later, when his parents also gave him a guitar and taught him to play it, his life in music really began.
With friends from Zeilberg, he started the dance orchestra 'The Joy Riders' at the age of thirteen; this orchestra lasted for no less than twenty-five years. (LP released: Doe ze de groete). During and after 'The Joy Riders' period, he was part of chapel 'Die Lustige Buben' from Helden-Grashoek for eight years.
In 1993, he started the successful Brabant song group Gèr Gedoan with neighbours and friends. Together, they released several CDs and DVDs. Until his retirement, Tonny taught music to primary school children for several half-days.
