Hoeve Lange Vonder

A relaxed atmosphere, homeliness, warmth and cosiness. We want you to experience all this in a rural farm shop.

What could be nicer than shopping where you can see the hustle and bustle of the barn? These are three words that we experience on our farm when caring for our sheep.

We are Frank and Femke de Groot and have 2 children, Ties and Pien. On our farm we keep about 50 ewes of the breed Texelaar x Swifter, these 2 breeds are known for their excellent conformation and good lambing.

A long cherished wish comes true, an own farm shop where we can sell mainly our lamb, because maybe you didn't know it yet, but lamb is one of the healthiest meats there is.

Around the first weekend of September, the ram goes with the ewes and the mating season starts. At the end of January, the ewes return to the stables. Here, if the coat is wet, it can dry nicely and later it can be shaved off.

We shave off the fleece to create a clean birth path and to make sure the ewes can get rid of their warmth in the stable.

Around mid-February the time finally arrives for the birth of the lambs. It is a busy period, where we use our key words of pure, passion and love again, but certainly also health is paramount. If the ewes and the lambs are doing well, we are also satisfied.

We hope to see you soon in our farm shop, where you can see the sheep with the lambs.
