Tourist recreational area Heihorsten in Someren

Discover and experience De Heihorsten

On an adventure in the woods, romp with the dog, fishing, cycling, hiking, picnicking, enjoying Burgundian cuisine, grabbing a terrace, golfing, mountain biking, horseback riding, playing and spotting sheep, Scottish Highlanders or birds is all just a stone's throw away distance from each other in an area where forest, heath and fens alternate.

Entrance: Nature Gate Vennenhorst

Natuurpoort Vennenhorst is located on the Provincialeweg in Someren-Heeze (address: Bosrandweg 6 Someren) and, together with Boscafé De Soete Inval, is a popular stopping place for visitors to the area. The location with spacious parking facilities, various terraces, a playground, various information facilities and still sufficiently ambitious plans for visitors make this place the ideal entrance to De Heihorsten – Someren nature park.

Accessibility

De Heihorsten Nature Park is easily accessible. The location is accessible on the north side via the provincial road N609. The A67 Turnhout-Venlo and A2 Eindhoven-Maastricht motorways are a short distance away. If you come by train, the best connection can be made via Eindhoven station or Helmond station.

The area is ideally suited for tourist-recreational developments due to the attractive environment and the favorable location between the Someren core and the vast nature reserve of the Strabrechtse Heide. Given the natural location, the integration of activities must be done very carefully. The basic principle here is that (new) recreational developments contribute to the preservation and strengthening of the landscape qualities and (potential) natural values.

Examples of initiatives are a golf course, a butterfly garden, luxury holiday homes, recreational routes and estates.
