Or, in the words of an enthusiastic regular visitor: “Gij&Ik is a unique cafe, in that it doesn’t matter who you are. It doesn’t matter how old or young you are. It’s always pleasant to be here.”

Tasting and toasting room
With more than 200 bottled beers, 15 draught beers, a walk-in beer cooler and various locally brewed beers, the speciality of the house can be summed up in one word: special beer. A fan was unable to contain his enthusiasm completely: “Guys! If a brasserie has more than 20 brands of triples on the menus (including Paix Dieu!), then, as far as I’m concerned, it already has those 5 stars. … And the Paix Dieu? Divine! Don’t drink too much, or you’ll get lost right there in the centre of Gemert.

Rabauw beer lab & shop
The Rabauw brewery is right next to Gij&Ik. This is where not only Gij&Ik’s delicious craft beers are brewed but also the location of a hidden gem in the back garden, among the hop plants and fruit trees: the Beer Garden. It’s ideal for private parties because it’s got a roof and is heated.
And also, something that beer lovers cannot miss: Gimmert Gist. This is the special beer festival that takes place annually on the second Sunday of July.
