Muziekmakerij De Biks Bent was founded on the ninth of the nineteen nineties and in all these years the group has grown into a large and enthusiastic club of 33 musicians. In the year 2015 we celebrated our 25th anniversary! Muziekmakerij De Biks Bent plays easy-going popular repertoire, but there are also regularly some heavier songs as study material on the music stand. Typical for Music-making De Biks Bent is the great solidarity despite, or perhaps precisely because of, the large age difference between them. The difference in age between the youngest and the oldest Biks Bent member is about 54 years.

In the year 2015 we celebrated our 25th anniversary! Muziekmakerij De Biks Bent plays easy-going popular repertoire, but there are also regularly some heavier songs as study material on the music stand. Typical for Music-making De Biks Bent is the great solidarity despite, or perhaps precisely because of, the large age difference between them. The difference in age between the youngest and the oldest Biks Bent member is about 54 years.
As one big group of friends they have a lot of fun during the weekly rehearsal on Monday, during the many performances they do and especially during the annual two-day Biks Bent weekend. The name Biks Bent caused quite some confusion in the beginning because people doubted the correct use of the Dutch language and thought it was a big band. Therefore the Biks Bent would like to explain it a bit more: Biks is dialect for 'coming from Beek' and 'bent' is an old Dutch word that means 'a collection of artists'. The Biks Bent is led by the enthusiastic conductor and arranger Yorick van Lieshout, who, despite his young age, has a firm grip on the group.
