ODE Laarbeek is a regional senior orchestra, founded in 2009 with its own specific repertoire and led by a professional conductor. A number of former members of the orchestra DZGAKEMV (De Zo Goed Als Koninklijk Erkende Muziek Vereniging), which ceased to exist at the end of 2008 and was very well known in Beek en Donk, had taken the initiative to set up an orchestra that would rehearse during the day. It was therefore intended for musicians who were no longer working or who otherwise had time to rehearse during the day. The name OverDagEnsemble was born! ODE Laarbeek started on 1 January 2009 with 22 enthusiastic musicians. Over the years, we have grown into a full orchestra with 43 musicians. They come from different places in the region. The orchestra was led by Theo Lokin, who with his expertise succeeded in making a musical whole out of it. Unfortunately, Theo died of a serious illness in February 2017. To replace him during his illness, he had found Hubert Geurts willing to take on the musical leadership. He also became his successor after Theo's death.
