Picking garden for charity

Picking flowers, as many as you like. That is possible on the Hei on the border of Mariahout and Beek en Donk, thanks to the latest initiative of the Rotary club Gemert-Bakel/Laarbeek. With the launch of Plukgeluk.EU, the Rotaryclub wants to strengthen biodiversity and also collect extra income for children's holiday activities and the Zonnebloem in all village centres of both communities. In this way, everyone can pick a bunch of happiness for the target groups who have had a particularly hard time during corona.

In the fields of Rotary member Tanja van de Ven, some 2,500 square metres of flower seed were sown in May. With the growing weather of the last few days, Tanja expects that from July onwards, there will be plenty of flowers to pick. Tanja was given the idea earlier this year by a Rotary Club in Friesland where a farmer made his field available for sowing in order to support good causes. The idea appealed to her and she immediately mobilised a club of enthusiastic club members to get the project off the ground.

10 euros
Through the website Plukgeluk.EU one can buy one square meter of the field full of flowers for the amount of 10 euros. This purchase entitles you to put together your own bouquet of flowers twice this summer. If you also want to surprise other people or if you want to have a colourful bouquet in your house all summer long, you can also buy several metres.

The Rotary Club has supported many local and international causes in recent years. The choice for the children's holiday work and De Zonnebloem was made because they want to give a shot in the arm to the youth and the elderly in Gemert-Bakel and Laarbeek. If the campaign is very successful, the Rotary Club may want to support additional local causes. For more information about the action or the purchase of a flower field, all information can be found on the website www.Plukgeluk.EU.
