Nature Guide CourseThe Nature Guide Course is a training course by volunteers for anyone who also wants to actively contribute to protecting nature. IVN has been training nature guides for 60 years. By now, more than 16,000 nature guides have been trained who show all over the Netherlands how interesting and surprisingly fun nature is. The training takes about two years and after completing this framework training you receive a diploma recognised by the national IVN. In January 2026, the new Nature Guide Course of the Brabant-Zuidoost region will start.

The Nature Guide Course is a unique course for everyone who wants to become a nature guide. You will learn about nature and how to inspire others and increase their knowledge of it. The Nature Guide Course lets you discover which special nature areas there are in the area, how you can make adults and children enthusiastic about nature and how you can continue to deepen your own knowledge. The Nature Guide Course in the Brabant-Zuidoost region is jointly organised with IVN departments from Laarbeek, Asten-Someren, Geldrop, Heeze-Leende, Helmond, Mierlo and Nuenen.

The Nature Guide Course is organised by IVN volunteers. Many of these volunteers are active as Nature Guides and/or have a background in education. Their enthusiasm for nature and transfer of knowledge makes this course a unique and personal experience. You will learn how to organise and guide green activities. Think about setting up and leading excursions, working with primary school pupils and more. During the programme, you will find out what you enjoy doing. You also get to know your own region very well. The nature that can be seen there now, the change of nature through the seasons, but also its origins and man's role in it. The bigger themes are usually: soil, water, flora, fauna, ecology and landscape. There is also a strong focus on sustainability.

After an ample period of preparation and organisation, the time has now come for participants to start enrolling for the Nature Guide Course. The course will be given at the IVN departments of Laarbeek, Asten-Someren, Geldrop, Heeze-Leende, Helmond, Mierlo and Nuenen. Registration is possible via the website of the local departments. An information evening where you can meet the IVN departments' nature guides will follow later this year.
