Lecture: importance of monitoring by the Municipality of Laarbeek

The presentation will be given by Michel Brands, coordinator of the Sustainability team of the municipality of Laarbeek. Monitoring biodiversity is the structural inventory of a certain area over a longer period of time. The inventory of birds, trees and plants, aquatic animals, bats, etc. is mainly done in Laarbeek by volunteers from all nature working groups of IVN Laarbeek. This data is then shared with the Municipality and research agency Ecologica. Topics that will be discussed in the presentation include: What does the municipality do with the data provided by IVN? What is the role of Ecologica, the ecological research and consultancy firm with which the municipality works closely? What is the importance of area knowledge of volunteers?
