Mike del Ferro and vocaliste Femke Smit

A new jazz venue is launching at Croy Castle with a performance by pianist Mike del Ferro and vocalist Femke Smit.

Croy Jazz is an initiative by saxophonist Jos Beeren in collaboration with Croy Castle. Jazz concerts in Aarle-Rixtel are nothing new. The network Jos Beeren built up in the past with the Wim Beeren Jazz Society in the former Café Van Bracht is still the source from which he can draw. This guarantees concerts featuring top musicians from the international jazz scene. A beautiful grand piano is on display at Croy Castle, and there is a seat for everyone. In the cozy cellar bar, you can meet jazz friends and enjoy a drink during the intermission and after the performance. There is ample parking space. The castle's historic ambiance is a real asset for an intimate listening concert.

Pianist Mike del Ferro and singer Femke Smit had known each other for some time, but during a chance encounter in Rio de Janeiro in April 2023, the musical spark truly ignited. From their shared love of Brazilian music, their classical roots (both are children of opera singers), and their background in jazz and improvisation, a special collaboration was born: Sintonia. Together, they delve into well-known as well as lesser-known gems by iconic Brazilian composers such as Antonio Carlos Jobim, Chico Buarque, and Milton Nascimento. These song jewels contain some of the most moving melodies and poetic lyrics from the Brazilian repertoire.
