200 Years of the Zuid-Willemsvaart

The Zuid-Willemsvaart is celebrating its 200th anniversary.
The Barthold van Heessel Local History Society has put together a diverse program centered on the history of the Zuid-Willemsvaart, including the significance of the canal for the community. A number of old inland vessels are moored in front of Perron 15 this weekend.
The official opening will take place at Perron 15. It will be performed by Mrs. Ria Bekkers-van der Meijden, daughter of a bridle holder. This will be followed by a lecture by Bernard Visser on 200 years of the Zuid-Willemsvaart.
An exhibition will take place inside Perron 15 for two days. On Saturday evening, there will be a social gathering featuring the shanty choir Courag.
