Artists Juliëtte Kalse and Ine Teeven together at Kunstpodium ’t Oude Raadhuis. Two women with different backgrounds and a distinct visual language, yet sharing the same passion for painting.

Juliëtte Kalse was born in Iran, and the influences from her childhood are still visible in her work. The eight-pointed star forms an important element in her paintings. The star is a common symbol in many cultures. For Juliette, the star is connected to her background and memories. She combines this symbolism with geometric shapes and the freedom of abstract expressionism. This results in paintings where form, color, and memory meet. The eight-pointed star recurs time and again, each time in a different form. Her work has since been included in private collections all over the world.

Painting runs deep for Ine Teeven as well. Her artistic development began with six years of painting lessons with Jan Tullemans and Bernhard Visser in Weert. Subsequently, she completed a nine-year painting and drawing course in Arendonk, which she successfully finished. Almost ten years ago, Ine was one of the founders of the Art Circle in Geldrop. Ine paints exuberantly. Color plays an important role in her work, which often has a strong graphic character. She enjoys working with mixed media. Sand, cardboard, wallpaper, newspaper, and other materials find their way into her paintings. It is precisely this combination of materials that creates works with a distinct structure and character.

The differences make the encounter between these two colorful artists special. Two very different ways of looking and painting, which form a colorful whole side by side in ’t Oude Raadhuis. The exhibition can be visited from October 31 to November 22 at Kunstpodium ’t Oude Raadhuis. Opening hours are from Wednesday to Sunday from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
