Water Board Aa en Maas hosts a Stream Restoration Experience Day.
During this afternoon, visitors can experience for themselves how the valleys of the Aa, Snelleloop and Boerdonkse Aa have changed. In this area, about 6 kilometres of stream and valley have been redesigned over the past year. This creates more space for water, nature and recreation, and the area is better prepared for dry and wet periods. Everyone is welcome to explore the area. Visitors can freely walk along marked walking routes in the area. Along the way, there are various information points where staff from the water board, volunteers from the local history society and other stakeholders provide explanations and answer questions. You can sign up before Tuesday 30 June at 12:00.

During the walk, you pass places where the water has room again and the landscape has become more resilient and natural. You can experience crossing the area via a bridge or the fun new hand ferry and and discover how fish can move freely here. You will also pass surprising spots where nature, water and recreation come together in a varied landscape. And if you look closely, you can also see traces of the past, such as the defensive earthwork at the Snelleloop, which has been made visible again. There is also plenty for children to discover, like searching for water creatures! A covered wagon travels through the area at two times for people who have difficulty walking and cannot follow the route on foot. Registration is required for this and spaces are limited. Through the redesign, they are working with partners on a stream valley that is better able to withstand dry and wet periods. These works are part of the Aa-dal Noord project. Here they are gradually creating a climate-resilient stream valley of the Aa, where water, nature, agriculture, recreation and landscape strengthen each other. They do this together with municipalities, the province and the local community.
