New Talent Orchestra launched

Have you always dreamed of playing in an orchestra? Or do you like making music, but are afraid to join an association? Then this is your chance!

'New Talent Orchestra' is a new initiative in Beek en Donk, in which people with and without musical experience work towards a concert in 10 weeks.

Even without any musical background, you can learn to play a wind or percussion instrument and make music together. Knowledge of reading notes is not necessary, you are free to make mistakes and ask anything you want. Fun is key and it is not for nothing that the concept, which originated in Friesland, has already led to more than 200 orchestras throughout the Netherlands. In Beek en Donk, a working group was set up with enthusiasts who saw the Frisian concept “Nij Talint Orkest” pass by. It is very successful and many people have heard of it. Now they want to start it up here too.

They will do so from Sunday 12 October, with the orchestra led by conductor Marianke van Doore-Hobé. Apart from being a musical concept, it is also a social one. You get to know new people, come to a new place and enjoy making music together. The idea is to work together in 10 rehearsals towards a concert, to be held in December. Any adult aged 30 or over who would like to play is welcome. From beginners who can't read notes yet, to musicians who are more experienced. You will be taken through the whole process and Guus and Annewiep, the creators of the orchestra, will be present themselves at the first rehearsal.

Everything is taken care of: an instrument, the conductor, the location, the sheet music and standard, and you will also get help from experienced musicians. Conviviality is paramount and it is very low-threshold. From all cores, everyone is welcome. Many people feel happier and better in an orchestra. If you didn't have the opportunity before, but now you really like it, be welcome. You will join a group with everyone who has something to do with music, so that click is quickly made. You all aim for a nice concert and maybe afterwards a group will remain with whom you can continue to make music together. In any case, the intention is there, because making music together is the best thing there is.
