5735EA Aarle-Rixtel Plan your route to Arlenius Walk.
The Arlenius Walk takes you past buildings and other objects closely associated with the time in which Arlenius lived.
Arlenius was born in 1510 as Arnoud van Eijndhouts on Kerkstraat in Aarle, which at that time did not yet form a single entity with Rixtels. Through studies in Den Bosch, Leuven, Paris, Ferrara, and Gologna, he grew under the name Arlenius into one of the most important book experts of the 16th century.
The walk passes, among other places, his birthplace and the artwork dedicated to him. Participants also walk to the Hagelkruis, Croy Castle, and the Mary Chapel. All three stood there during the time Arlenius still lived in Aarle. At the end of the walk, participants go to the local history room, where two books by Arlenius are on display.
