Now that the holiday season is over, the Heemkundekring ’t Hof van Liessent from Lieshout is kicking off the season with an interesting lecture. A lecture will be held in Zaal De Koekoek by Mr. Nard Jansen. He will tell a fascinating story about his grandfather, Bernard van Dam, who came from Eerde.
In his younger years, this Bernard was a baker in the beautiful village of Eerde, located near Veghel. Besides being a baker, he became known far into Brabant as the author of the local history book ‘Oud-Brabants Dorpsleven’. The book contains stories and drawings about crafts and customs around 1900. However, he is much more: at the age of 45, he began to develop himself as a professional journalist, draftsman, and especially a cartoonist of agricultural subjects.

The content of the lecture was drawn from the complete oeuvre of Bernard van Dam, published in 2020, and his grandson, Nard Jansen, can therefore speak with great passion about his grandfather. The surroundings of Lieshout are also featured in the many photos, stories, and drawings. The lecture is also open to non-members of the association.
