Who can tell you more about the history of Lieshout than the people of Lieshout themselves?

The local history society 't Hof van Liessent is therefore delighted to be hosting regular lectures by local experts. This lecture will be given by local member Joop van den Baar (Hzn).

In Zaal De Koekoek, he will delve deeply into the history of Lieshout's development before the year 800. His guideline is Gerard Merkelbach's booklet entitled "Overzicht van verloren en wordingsgeschiedenis van Lieshout" (Overview of the origins and history of Lieshout). This booklet was published in February 1969 and was advertised at the time as a special issue of "d'n Booj van Liessent." The lecture consists of two parts: 1. How did the landscape of the Netherlands and Lieshout develop? 2. Where was the first settlement in Lieshout? For a long time, it was thought that the first settlement was in the Hof, but Joop will explain that this was not the case. Joop previously gave a lecture on the period after 800, but now he's going back further, even to the time before Christ. All in all, it promises to be an interesting lecture. The lecture will be held in De Koekoek Hall. Everyone is welcome, including non-members of the Heemkundekring 't Hof van Liessent.
