She will take visitors on a journey through the life and work of the intriguing painter Marianne von Werefkin, a progressive woman who played a significant role in the development of Expressionism.
Erna Charbon is a highly sought-after speaker and is known for her inspiring and accessible lectures. With her captivating storytelling style, she manages to bring art history to life for a broad audience. The lecture will focus on Marianne von Werefkin (1860–1938). She was born into a wealthy Russian family and trained by the famous artist Ilya Repin. Later, she became active in Munich, where she collaborated with Kandinsky, Münter, and Franz Marc, among others. Her work and life story demonstrate how she was not only artistically innovative but also dared to choose her own path socially, going against the grain. The gathering offers a glimpse into an artist who remained largely overlooked for a long time, but who has been of great significance to modern art.
