Shadow play during Children's Book Week

Making theater with light, shadow, and imagination. During Children's Book Week, Bibliotheek De Lage Beemden is hosting the workshop 'Make Your Own Shadow Play'. Kids from grades 5 to 8 will get hands-on experience creating, building, and performing their own shadow theater.

A shadow play is an ancient form of theater from Asia. Using silhouettes, light, and shadow, you tell a story behind a translucent screen. During the workshop, children first come up with their own story or pick an existing fantasy story for inspiration. Then they make the main characters, the set, and the mini-theater themselves. At the end, they present their shadow play to each other and to their (grand)parents. During Children's Book Week, everything revolves around the theme 'Spot On!'. In this workshop, the children themselves are in the spotlight with their own stories, characters, and shadow plays.

The workshop takes place in the youth library in Aarle-Rixtel. It is intended for children aged 7 to 12. Buy your ticket through the library's website.
