An Evening with Twan Huys

A special College Tour-style evening at Cultuurcentrum Deurne featuring Dutch author and television presenter Twan Huys. This time, Huys won't be asking the questions himself: Deurne-based journalist and presenter Helmy van Doorentakes the interviewer's seat.

The conversation centres on Huys' bestseller Het droompad (The Dream Trail), in which he recounts an extraordinary hiking adventure with his teenage son Jack. Their ambitious plan is to walk from Munich to Venice, covering 555 kilometres and 22,200 metres of elevation gain. What begins as a father-and-son adventure takes on a deeper meaning following the deaths of Huys' father and, later, his mother. The journey becomes a personal story about fatherhood, grief, resilience, connection and the healing power of walking.

Twan Huys is known as the presenter of College Tour and Buitenhof and previously worked as a correspondent in Washington and New York for Dutch broadcaster NOS and current affairs programme NOVA. He is also the author of several other books.
