Will you count too? Counting the birds in your garden or on your balcony for half an hour is a fun activity. This National Garden Bird Count helps Vogelbescherming Nederland and Sovon (Vogelonderzoek Nederland) keep track of developments in Dutch breeding birds. Schools and other groups can count at a time that suits them. You do not count alone. Over a hundred thousand Dutch people note down the birds present for half an hour during the counting weekend. Because the Netherlands loves birds. Join in too! 

On the website of Vogelbescherming Nederland (mijntuinvogeltelling.nl) you will find all kinds of tips and also how you can send in your counting results. 
Birds in your garden are a lot of fun. Sparrows, finches, tits and blackbirds can be found in almost every garden. Even in winter when they fly from one feeding spot to another. So hang several silos with sunflower seeds, peanuts and dried mealworms. And enjoy the activity.
