Kringloopwinkel Een Aarde (One Earth)

In 1974, the founders of this thrift store used the name 'Een Aarde' (One Earth) to express that in the world we share responsibility for each other and the conditions in which we and future generations will have to live.

We have stood squarely by the goals set forth by the founders for 47 years. We are more than hundred volunteers, organised in Stichting Werkgroep Een Aarde (One Earth Workgroup Foundation), who find meaning and interest in rolling up our sleeves to support the work of development workers associated with the region. Their work matters, and can always use some (financial) help!

Here at Een Aarde, we find joy and meaning in contributing to a better world. Our store offers young and older people/volunteers the opportunity to work towards this together in a meaningful way, in an enthusiastic environment.

Through our efforts, we make it possible for people with smaller budgets in the region to continue to buy decent and beautiful products.

Our efforts contribute to a sustainable world. Products that would otherwise end up being (prematurely) recycled get another chance at a "second life"! In other words: we reduce waste.

And finally, of course, the proceeds from our activities help many thousands of people in several developing countries to have a slightly better future. And there is a great need!

The projects we support in developing countries are varied: from maintaining oral and written contacts to financial support for the realisation of requested projects. And, of course, following up and monitoring implementation. It is a mandatory requirement that we have expert contact persons in the region who can guarantee the implementation of said projects through their relationship with the workers in the field.

In addition to donations of cash and goods, funds are also generated by our thrift store at Molenakkers 11 in Asten. What's more, Een Aarde generates revenue from scrapping unsaleable appliances and selling the metals that are left.

We provide information about our projects and the situation of the people involved in a variety of ways.
