Oostappense Forests

The area largely consists of production forests, planted in the 1920s. The forest is surrounded by fields. There is a large population of roe deer in the forests. The Oostappense Forest is an area with plenty of different species of birds, such as the crested tit, the short-toed treecreeper, the coal tit and the goldcrest. And if you are lucky, you might just see a long-eared owl roosting. The area is included in the network of hiking routes of The Peel. The area belongs to the community of Asten.
