Oorlogsmonument (War Memorial)

A memorial in honour of all those from Heusden who fell during the Second World War and the conflict in the former Dutch East Indies.

The monument is a bluestone plaque and is a private initiative. It is situated on the church square in front of St Anthony’s Church. This monument was erected in 2000 in memory of all those from Heusden who fell during the Second World War and the conflict in the former Dutch East Indies.

One of the fallen is a missionary who died in a Japanese prison camp. Ten names carved in stone and ten small crosses serve as a reminder of those who died.
