A literal organic market garden is growing on the fields of the Eyckenlust Estate.
Starting this summer, organically grown vegetables and herbs will be available here. The main initiator of the farmlands behind the Elizabeth Hoeve on the Gemertseweg is Sonja van Uden of the Landdrift Foundation.
Sonja is starting the first crop this spring. Because she is currently building a new market garden together with volunteers, she is using this first season as a test year. During this period, the volunteers and Sonja are gaining experience with cultivation, planning, and compiling the harvest shares. You can sign up as a tester via the Landrift website, helping to discover what works well and what could be improved. With this experience, Sonja can further improve the market garden and prepare for the growing seasons in the years to come. Please note! You will receive pesticide-free vegetables for 20 weeks, for which you do have to pay a fee. In this way, you also help support the foundation in realizing more nature and healthier food. This summer, she hopes to open a pick-your-own garden alongside the market garden.
This spring and summer, Sonja is busy pioneering. On the fields where corn was grown in recent years, vegetables and flowers must now be cultivated, mostly by hand. If you would enjoy helping out in a super-large ecological “vegetable garden” every now and then, you are more than welcome. You can sign up via the Landdrift website.
