In 2020, the monument ‘Double Crash Halifax’ was unveiled in memory of the 14 crew members of an Allied aircraft that crashed in 1945.

This modern monument, designed by artist Theo van Dam, commemorates the Allied aircraft that crashed in 1945, in which 14 crew members lost their lives. The monument is made of glass and stainless steel, with the names of all 14 French victims laser-engraved onto it. Remnants of the aircraft have also been incorporated into the structure. The benches on either side of the glass structure are modelled on the wing of the crashed aircraft.
