Heusden Light Monument
In 2021, Heusden celebrated its centenary. Heusden originated from four hamlets, namely: Voorste Heusden, Achterste Heusden, Middelste Heusden and Behelp. As a lasting memento, a 4-metre-high monument stands in the centre. The monument is constructed in a series of layers and symbols: light catcher, supports, tube, light display, plinth and four hamlets. The three supports have abstract forms and represent the active community.
The monument is made of bronze, stainless steel, Corten steel and a transparent tube, and was created by artist Theo van Dam. The commission came from the ‘Heusden 100 Years Working Group’ (1921–2021) and was installed in 2024 near Vorstermansplein in Heusden.
