Suddenly, it's time to start learning to read. The first words, sentences, books – it's a special phase in which you, as a parent, can play an important role. But how does learning to read actually work? What can you do to help your child without turning it into a “homework project”?

During this one-hour session, De Lage Beemden library will take you on a journey into the world of beginning readers. You will receive practical tips, discover how to choose a suitable book, and learn more about reading levels and the importance of continuing to read aloud (even when your child can already read themselves). An expert reading media coach will take you on a one-hour journey into the world of beginning readers and give you practical tips. You will learn why reading (aloud) is important, what the reading levels in the library (AP, A, B...) , how to recognise your first reading books and where to find them in the library, examples of different types of books, and there will be time to ask questions and exchange experiences.

This free meeting is intended for parents of children who have just started Year 3. Whether you love reading or found it difficult yourself in the past, everyone is welcome.
The workshop is offered at the Beek en Donk Library. Register quickly via the library's website.
