33 years of carnival on De Plattevonder
This monument was designed by Jan van Kasteren, board member of the carnival association in Someren-Eind and co-developed by Antoon Kwarten. When the church was built it was clear that there was no money left to build a tower. However, a church without a tower was not liked. The carnival association then campaigned to obtain the necessary resources. The motto of the action was: save our tower, abbreviated rot. Since then, the nickname of the inhabitants of Eindhoven has been Rotten and Rottinnekes to this day. Years later a monument was erected that is depicted here.
It was placed in 1989 on the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of carnival association De Plattevonder.
