Steam dairy factory De Zomerbloem with director's residence; In 1909 a cooperative steam dairy factory was founded on the initiative of PeerJan Maas, chairman of the NCB dept. Someren. Architect de Vries from Helmond was commissioned to design the factory and director's residence, which opened in 1910. P. Janssen from Asten built the factory. The chimney that has since disappeared was built by the firm La Lieu from Maastricht. The first director was J. Paulussen from Sint Anthonis, who was succeeded in 1915 by J. Roxs. The most famous director was G. Vogels, who moved to the director's house in 1922. Initially, 164 farmers were members of the cooperative. Due to the strong growth, the factory was enlarged in 1927. In 1950 the cooperative had about 900 members, who brought 1.5 million kg of milk to the factory per year. Of these, 325. 000 kg of butter made. In 1957 the steam dairies of Asten and Someren merged and in 1960 a new factory was built in Asten. Since then, this complex has been used by the Sonnemans family.
