Torreveroute
This beautiful route with the theme 'water' runs past fens, ponds and ditches and does full justice to the slogan of the municipality of Laarbeek 'Waterpoort van de Peel'. A very diverse vegetation is visible along the banks and in the forests. The Torreven was created after the ice age. After the ground started to thaw, the wind created a hollow in the cover sand ridge, which was flooded and peat-covered. Until the 1940s, peat was cut here in modest form. The Torrenven is one of the natural gems of Laarbeek. The work of art with a poem placed at this fen is also special. Walk along pools through the new nature. A visit to the Haverven (with bird hide) completes this walk.

PLEASE NOTE: If you come by car, you can park at Community Center Mariahout (Bernadettestraat 32 in Mariahout). Then you walk to the starting point of the route:
-Walk left on the 'Meerven' road (when you are standing on the 'Bernadettestraat' facing the Community Center).
-At the end of the road, at the fork, turn left onto 'Meerven'.
-Just past the 'Kramsvogel' road (left), turn right onto the sandy path.
-After almost 400 meters you turn left onto the sandy path 'Torrenven'.
-After about 300 meters you turn right towards the Torrenven (lake). There is the starting point where there is also a route sign.
