A trail of bronze through Asten

(3.5 km)

These bronze plaques together form a path through Asten with Museum Klok & Peel as starting point. These plaques bear the Jan die Smet logo as a reminder of this historical figure. The trail is a tribute to the bell-making village of Asten; the bronze tiles and plaques were cast by the Royal Eijsbouts Bell Foundry in Asten.

The starting point and end point of the route is Museum Klok & Peel. You can visit the museum after your walk and / or break in the cozy museum café or on the outdoor terrace in the museum gardens. The museum café is freely accessible.

Tiles with small bronze bells, called nails, indicate the direction in which to walk. The crowns on top of the bells show the direction (ref. to picture). The path takes you from the museum via a beautiful, green route, the Bell Casting Path, to the centre of Asten. Via a loop past some historic buildings and through old streets, you walk past the statue of Jan die Smet. After St Mary's Presentation Church and two cloisters, the route leads you back to the museum. The path is wheelchair accessible.
