Slides by Ton Swinkels in Heemhuis

The Heemhuis (Heirs' House) in Aarle-Rixtel opens its doors to the public with slides by Ton Swinkels.

As is the case every first Sunday of the month, the Heemhuis is open, and this time too, it promises to be a special afternoon.

During this opening, photographer Ton Swinkels will present a selection of his beautiful slides taken in the period after 1960. During those years, Ton's camera captured countless moments from daily life in Aarle-Rixtel: village scenes, social gatherings, festivities, and, of course, well-known villagers.

The afternoon revolves around recognition and memories. Visitors can relax, enjoy the images, and talk together about how things used to be. The photos not only bring old memories to life but also spark new stories and conversations. The slides beautifully show how Aarle-Rixtel has changed over the years, but also how much has remained the same. "It's always wonderful to see how people suddenly recognize someone or remember an event during a presentation like this," says a volunteer at the Heemhuis. "That's exactly what we do it for: to keep the past alive."

It's an afternoon full of memories and recognition. Who knows, you might see yourself, family, or friends in the images. And if you know the story behind the photos, you can share them with other visitors. The Heemhuis invites everyone to come by, reminisce, and enjoy the village's recent past together. Feel free to stop by!
