At De Ateliers: René Ziedses Des Plantes – Het Bomige

From 3 October to 6 December 2026, visual artist René Ziedses Des Plantes presents 'Het Bomige' at de ateliers in Museum De Wieger. Trees, a constant source of inspiration throughout his artistic career, take centre stage in this exhibition.

Sometimes clearly recognisable, at other times reduced to shapes, structures and rhythms, trees appear throughout his work. Fascinated by their strength, irregularity and individual character, Ziedses Des Plantes explores the boundary between representation and abstraction. Organic forms of branches, trunks and landscapes meet geometric surfaces, lines and rhythmic patterns.

He finds inspiration close to home in the natural surroundings of De Wieger, but also during mountain treks in regions including the Himalayas, Alps and Pyrenees. He is particularly fascinated by trees that manage to survive at great altitudes, revealing a remarkable strength and elemental form.

De Ateliers provides a fitting setting for the exhibition, with views of the museum garden, the tall trees along the garden path and the Judas tree in the courtyard. The artist will also regularly be present to talk about his work or perform music surrounded by his art.
