Froukje van Gastel will give a lecture at IVN Laarbeek entitled: 'Animal tracks, how do you recognise them?

This lecture will be held in the IVN building De Bimd. Froukje is an IVN nature guide, has taken several animal tracking courses and has been a member of the Weylin Tracking team for several years. Most walkers rarely see any animals other than dogs or a few birds. That's not surprising, as many wild animals are shy and don't like to be seen by humans. It's easy to forget that outside our field of vision, animals are busily hunting and eating, mating and fighting, foraging and defecating. Animals reveal their presence through the tracks they leave behind. And those who recognise the tracks can deduce a great deal from them. Which animal was this? Why was it here? What did it eat? Where does it live? In this way, animal tracks add an extra dimension to being outdoors. With knowledge of animal tracks, a walk will never be the same again!
