Dr. Henk Giebels from Gemert will give a lecture about Beek en Donk and the Van Thiel company.

The focus will be on the major strike of 1909-1910 by the nail makers of the Van Thiel company. The strike gained national attention.

While this is a familiar story for many Beek en Donk residents, some unfamiliar facts will also be discussed. In his younger years, Mr. Giebels interviewed several eyewitnesses of the strike. He will also play some recordings of these interviews. Several old photos from that period will also be shown during the lecture. The lecture will be held in the Community Center.
