Workshop: Recognizing and referring low literacy.

In the municipality of Laarbeek, approximately 1 in 6 adults has limited basic literacy skills.

To support professionals in this area, Library De Lage Beemden is holding the free workshop ‘Recognizing and Referring Low Literacy’.

The workshop is intended for professionals who work with children and parents. This includes employees in healthcare and social welfare, childcare, education, and parenting support. Other interested professionals are also welcome. During the workshop, you will learn to recognize signs of low literacy and discover how to discuss this in a respectful manner. You will also receive tips on communicating more clearly and learn about available support and referral options, such as the Taalhuis Laarbeek. The workshop is interactive and includes an Escape Game in which participants experience firsthand what it is like to have limited basic skills. Additionally, there is time to exchange experiences.

The free workshop will take place twice. The location is the Ontmoetingscentrum in Beek en Donk. You can register via the library's website.
