Bossa Blue

The Eindhoven trio Bossa Blue was founded by trumpeter and guitarist Henrie Stribos. ‘Music was in my blood from an early age,’ says Henrie, who was asked to join the brass band at the age of nine, where he learned to play the trumpet. His older brother also taught him the very basics of guitar playing at the time. And while searching for stations on the radio, he heard Brazilian guitar music for the first time. It was a revelation. He was struck by the rhythms, the colourful chords and the exotic Samba and Bossa Nova songs by artists such as Antonio Carlos Gobim, João Gilberto and Astrud Gilberto.

He later worked with Joyce Kapel on various music projects. Her warm voice and presentation make her the perfect singer to accompany in this genre. Laurence Bilger, on her transverse flute, impresses with her tone and improvisations and perfectly complements the duo with her playing. The repertoire includes hits from the 1960s and 1970s such as “The Girl from Ipanema”, “One Note Samba” and “Agua de Beber”. Interested in coming along for a pleasant evening?
