The history of 'De Goede Hoop' goes back to July 1874. In that month, 'Mister Biermans' drummed up a dozen youngsters and founded a brass band.

From 1986 to 2001, De Goede Hoop was conducted by Jean Pennings. Under his leadership, the band participated in four competitions in the honorary division, resulting in four first prizes. Since September 2001, the wind band has been under the inspiring leadership of Gerrit de Weerd. In 2008 the band participated in the competition in Zaandam. Result: 85,25 points with promotion to the first division. In 1953, the band followed the example of many other societies in the area and founded a drum band under the leadership of Carel van Deursen. This soon grew to some 20 members in 1957. Since its foundation a total of 20 times the band participated in competitions and championships. In 1960 a start was made with structured training. More and more young people wanted to play wind music. The possibilities for this must be expanded. Initially by a few enthusiastic members of the association, later in cooperation with the GIKO in Helmond. In those years the youth harmony of 'De Goede Hoop' is very active and, led by Ad v.d. Laar, wins four first prizes at competitions between 1970 and 1972.

From 1986 on, the brass band 'De Goede Hoop' has been in charge of its own training. A number of good teachers, supported by a training committee, make sure that annually about 20 young and older musicians take an exam. The result is a number of students of about 60, a student orchestra, a training orchestra and two 'older youth' orchestras. Harmonie 'De Goede Hoop' has grown into a dynamic association with approximately 180 members - ranging in age from 10 to 80 years - who, each in his or her own way, take great pleasure in music. The club spirit is of paramount importance.
