In the Heemhuis of Heemkundekring Barthold van Heessel in Aarle-Rixtel there is a special exhibition: Artful Carcasses.

This exhibition shows a selection of animal skeletons from the collection of Aarle-Rixtelnaar and city archaeologist Theo de Jong. Theo has been collecting bones and skeletons of dead animals since his childhood. His passion led him to study biology in Tilburg and specialise in archaeozoology. He now works as Helmond's city archaeologist, and his collection is actively used for archaeological research. The exhibition shows how diverse the animal kingdom is; from small skulls to impressive skeletons, each with its own story. A unique opportunity to admire the insides of animals up close and to discover the similarities and differences in animals from our own environment. The exhibition can be visited during the summer months on the first Sunday of each month, from 2 to 5 pm in the Heemhuis, Kouwenberg 37 in Aarle-Rixtel.
