The mill has served as a flour mill and originally had a front and rear mill, of which only the front mill is still present. The premill has 17der (150 cm diameter) artificial stones and a four-branch line.
The mill originally dates from 1543 and was then a ban mill of Postel Abbey. She was originally located near Sluis XI on the Zuid-Willemsvaart. The mill was renovated in 1738 and in 1767 it was sold to Evert van der Grinten, from whom the mill owes its name.

Evert's descendants owned the mill until 1915. Later the mill fell out of use and was restored in 1954. But just before she was delivered she was damaged by storm. The mill was completed in 1955, but it slowly fell into disrepair.

In 1978 the mill was moved to its current location, west of Someren, near the practice area of the archers' guild. The mill was milled by volunteer millers but in October 2008 the mill had to be shut down because the stand turned out to be in poor condition.

In September 2009 the mill box of the Den Evert standard mill was lifted from the chassis in its entirety because the standard had been severely damaged. A thorough restoration was needed to keep the mill, originally from 1543, running without danger.
