Relaxing outing 
The Liessel forest is a green buffer between the villages of Liessel and Vlierden. With a length of 4.2 kilometers, this forest walk is perfect for a nice relaxing outing in nature. Immerse yourself in a world of greenery, where the trees stretch their branches over the walking paths. Follow the hiking nodes along the route, stopping occasionally to view nature's little wonders, from colorful wildflowers to unusual mushrooms. 

Geological history
The elongated forest area is located on a sand ridge between the valley of the rivers Astense Aa and Oude Aa. What makes this area so special is its interesting geological history. The sand ridge on which you are located stretches in two different directions, namely from northwest to southeast and from southwest to northeast. A little further in the forest is a canalized part of the Oude Aa. Two weirs have been placed here to direct the water. Because, due to the proximity of the Peelrand fracture, only one kilometer to the east, the height difference here is no less than two meters! 

Start from 'De Smeltkroes'
Park your vehicle at the Smeltkroes in Liessel and start your walk in a westerly direction, to walking route number 60. At the Smeltkroes there is also a recreational point with picnic benches and a water tap.
