Route Asten (Liberation Route Brabant)

(47.0 km)

You cycle through the area that the Allied pilots used as a refuge for shot-down aircraft. De Peel was therefore nicknamed 'Death Valley'. On this route you can visit the museum farm where an English field marshal stayed. You will also cycle past the castle that came under fire after the liberation. Along the way you will learn all about the defenses of both the Dutch and German armies.

The Liberation Route Brabant tells the story of the liberation, but also shows what the Second World War meant for ordinary people from Brabant. Eight cycling routes spread across North Brabant lead you past Brabant Remembers stories, listening columns of the Liberation Route Europe, monuments and museums, which together make the impact of the war on North Brabant visible.

This route is available for € 2.95 at VVV Asten.
