The national Children's Music Week is an initiative of 14 major Dutch organisations from the music sector that have joined forces to realise an annual 10-day Children's Music Week for children aged 0 to 12. During Kindermuziekweek, children all over the Netherlands can take part in a range of activities, from enchanting concerts to fun workshops. It is a chance to sample different genres of music, learn about various instruments and enjoy the magic of music. A feast for the senses where their musical horizons are broadened and new talents are discovered. "Musical development contributes to children's overall cognitive and emotional development," says the organisers of Children's Music Week. And that is exactly what Children's Music Week focuses on. It is not only a celebration of tones and rhythms, but also a platform for growth and self-development.

Studies show that music is a powerful tool for children's development. It can improve their language skills, stimulate their creativity and boost their self-confidence. Through Children's Music Week and playing and experiencing music, children can not only enjoy it, but also grow and flourish on personal levels. Of course, Royal Harmony Oefening en Uitspanning will also make itself heard during this Children's Music Week. They will hold two special concerts especially for young people in Muziekcentrum Het Anker! The family concert 'Melodia' with live storyteller on 14 April by the wind band and the 'Van alles wa' starting on 21 April. A concert where friends, girlfriends and other family members play along in the training orchestra. Both concerts are free of charge, open to young and old and offer a great opportunity to get in touch with music.
