Tribute to the Cats Band

In 2002, a musical tribute was paid in Volendam to The Cats, in the 1960s the founding fathers of what was later referred to as the 'palingsound'.

It did not stop at this one-off performance, as the way the 'Tribute To The Cats Band' (The Only One Really From Volendam) had breathed new life into the hits of their legendary fellow villagers demanded a sequel.

We are now 22 years, and more than 800 concerts on. On 24 June 2022, the band celebrated its 20th anniversary with a grandiose open-air concert in the centre of Volendam on Europaplein.

'Lea', 'Why', 'Marian', 'Times were when' and, last but not least, the world hit 'One way wind' provide a weekly feast of recognition across the country. 

Most of the band members have more than earned their spurs in the Volendam music scene in the past, in Next One, The Business, Left-side, Dutch, Dos Chicos, and Fiësta, among others: Thoom Veerman, Nico Tol, Harmen Veerman, ( brother of The Cats member, Cees Veerman ) newcomer, Marcel Veerman, ( Uncle sayer of The Cats member, Cees Veerman & TTTCB member Harmen Veerman ) Michel de Haan and Jan Veerman.

The 'youngsters' Cees Veerman and Larry Koning, are up-and-coming talents, who never experienced the days of The Cats. This makes them all the more appreciative of what their fellow villagers brought about in those days, and every week they enjoy what the music of The Cats still brings to life in 2024.

The eight of them guarantee a full evening's entertainment with almost all Cats hits! Every time, it is a feast of recognition with lots of fun!
