Yes, dogs are welcome in the nature reserves of the Land van de Peel, on a lead and on the marked paths. During the breeding season (15 March to 15 July) and the bird migration season (15 October to 30 November), parts of the nature reserves are closed to the public. Check the signs on site.

Usually not yet at the start of the holiday, since the heather blooms from mid-August to mid-September. Plan your heather walk, or the 30-kilometre Strabrechtse Heide cycling route from Someren, towards the end of the holiday. Prefer to go on foot? Choose a route via Hiking in the Peel.

Free live music plays for eight Friday evenings at the Kasteeltuinconcerten in Helmond. The Nirwana garden festival in Lierop bursts into life in mid-August with pop and rock. For something calmer, join a brewery tour at Bavaria in Lieshout or visit the castle garden in Gemert. Pick up the free Peelpaspoort for children aged 4 to 12. They collect stamps at kid-friendly locations and solve a mystery. Available at participating locations and at the tourist information points.
